Application
Ferric Chloride is used in water treatment, causing the effluent to flocculate, leaving the water transparent and free from impurities.
It is used for precipitating heavy metals and sulphides, decolourising, deodorising, degreasing, sterilising, dephosphorising, and reducing effluent COD and BOD.
It is used for etching circuit boards, to treat stainless steel corrosion, and as a mordant in industry.
It is an organic synthesis catalyst. In the analysis of copper, selenium and arsenic, it is used as an indicator in the determination of phenol, cholesterol and choline.
